Varanasi, also known as Kashi or Benares, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It holds immense religious significance, particularly for Hindus, who consider it one of the holiest cities. Ghats: The city is famous for its ghats, which are steps leading down to the Ganges River. These ghats are used for religious rituals, bathing, and cremation ceremonies. Some of the most famous ghats include Dashashwamedh Ghat, Manikarnika Ghat, and Assi Ghat. Temples: Varanasi is home to numerous temples, with the Kashi Vishwanath Temple being the most prominent. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, it is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India.
